The most beautiful vacation regions
Lake Constance - St. Gallen
Lake Constance connects the three border points of Switzerland, Austria and Germany. Spread around the lake are enchanting vacation regions. In summer there are perfect conditions for sailing, windsurfing or swimming. The pleasant fresh water has a refreshing effect and is ideal for swimming vacations. Since Lake Constance has a proud size, you almost feel like you are at the sea. Find your favorite accommodation within walking distance of the lake at e-domizil.
A little detour to Thurgau is definitely worthwhile. In Lipperswil there is one of the largest amusement parks in Switzerland. It is especially suitable for families. In Conny-Land you will not only find crazy roller coasters, but also an indoor climbing facility. Summer brings different water activities to the park. Let's go for an adventurous round boat ride in the "Wet & Splash" on Voodoo Island.
Schaffhausen with the Rhine Falls
Shortly after the beautiful Lake Constance and the green Thurgau you will find a water spectacle of a different kind. Huge amounts of water flow down the Rhine Falls every day. This 15'000 year old waterfall near Schaffhausen is definitely worth a visit. The power of the water is captivating and can be enjoyed by the whole family. There are four boat rides per day, which vary in proximity to the roaring water depending on the course. Some attractions can also be experienced on land. The Rhyfall Express takes you in a 20-minute ride from the town of Schaffhausen to the mighty Rhine Falls. Experience the force of the waterfall up close and feel the spray of the water all over your body.
Appenzell has its very own charm. Sweet little houses are spread across the beautiful landscape. According to a legend, the distribution of the houses has a reason. The giant Säntis once lived peacefully there. His bed was the Schwendibach valley and his pillow was the Meglisalp. His elbow formed today's Seealpsee. One day, in a sack made of animal fur, he took the small houses and their inhabitants with him. An attentive farmer cut an opening in the sack with his scythe to save his neighbors. The contents of the bag slowly spilled out of the giant on his way home and scattered haphazardly over the landscape. Besides the historical houses, you can also visit the other places of the saga and you will surely enjoy a wonderful day in the Alpstein. The most famous sights are the mountain restaurant Äscher and the Wildkirchli. You can get here by the Ebenalp cable car and a 15-minute hiking trail. Immediately you will enjoy a view of the fantastic mountain panorama.
A corner away is the hilly Toggenburg, characterized by high mountains and deep valleys. Here you can enjoy the most beautiful hiking trails. For our little ones, the sound trail is a special experience. You literally merge with nature while listening to the pleasant sounds of each station. This exciting walk stretches between the Wildhauser Oberdorf and the Alp Sellamatt where in winter the skiing area passes through. Another recommendable and very special excursion is the tree top walk in the Neckertal. It leads you from the forest floor to above the treetops. At one point you will catch a wonderful view over the thicket from a viewing platform. On site, 40 learning and experience stations will give you an impression of the forest. There are playgrounds, picnic and barbecue areas for the whole family. The trail is wheelchair accessible and can be easily navigated with a stroller.
A trip to the Rhine Valley in St. Gallen is considered a real insider tip among all connoisseurs. Treat yourself to some time out in this wine and hiking paradise. The region is situated in a beautiful valley between Lake Constance, Sargans and Altenrhein and is one of the higher areas of Eastern Switzerland. The varied offers make the Rhine Valley a jewel of Switzerland.
Shortly after you will see Heidiland, which owes its name to the famous Heidi story by Jo-hanna Spyri. It offers a beautiful skiing and hiking region. The Heidi character runs like a thread through the whole region. The Heidi House in Maienfeld and the Heidi Trail on the Pizol are fascinating excursion destinations that are ideal for families with small children. For the older ones we recommend the Geopark-Höhenweg or the Kräuter-Wanderweg. For bikers there are challenging routes as well as easy trails. For winter vacations we recommend the Flumserberg, with 105km of fun on the slopes and 18km of cross-country skiing. If you want to take it easy, an adventurous boat trip across Lake Walen to Quin-ten is a suitable alternative. Adrenalin junkies will find various adventures around Lake Walen: abseiling from the dam wall, or daring a paragliding tandem flight over the waters - here it is possible. For wellness seekers, the Tamina Therme in Bad Ragaz with its 36.5° C warm water is ideal.
There are also beautiful hiking trails in Glarnerland, where you can switch off from everyday life and fully concentrate on your family and the surrounding nature. The Klöntalersee is a natural paradise. It is not only a beautiful lake, but also the oldest dammed lake in Switzerland. The surrounding mountains are reflected on the glittering water surface. In high summer, this lake is the perfect place to cool down and escape the heat in the valley. In winter, there are quite a few kilometers of slopes, which make the fun on the slopes perfect. The ski area in Braunwald is especially suitable for families. Elm offers a lot of variety: perfect skiing, but also a beautiful toboggan run with a fantastic mountain panorama. On the Kerenzerberg the free practice lift is a good start to try out your skills on skis.
